Pat became a bookseller after 32 years in the field of education, 30 of those in Durango. She taught kindergarten through college, as well as teacher education. In fact she still dabbles in consultant work throughout Colorado.
Pat sees bookselling as a way to bridge her teaching skills by living her belief, "You can't make anyone read, you can only guide them to want to read."
Choosing Durango's milder climate over the Midwest's was a easy one. Pat loves the scenery, skiing, water sports, hiking and camping here. Semi-retirement offers her the challenges of metalsmithing, exercise, and having the time to continue learning by reading. And travel adventures are at the top of her list, because living on the edge still appeals to old pseudo-hippies.
