Welcome to Maria's Bookshop
We're very excited to be part of the first-ever Durango Public Library Literary Festival, which will make its debut during Durango's Showcase of the Arts on September 16-18. While some may think of New York as the heart of the publishing world, Durango and its environs boasts a remarkably high number of dedicated, talented professional writers, publishers, editors, illustrators and other literary artists. The first-ever Durango Public Library Literary Festival is a great opportunity to explore and celebrate the rich diversity of Durango’s literary community. Events will include:
- Workshops Led by Local Literary Artists including Sari Ross, Blake Crouch, Ken Wright, Reid Ross, Karyn Gabaldon, Jean Campion, Cindy Coleman, David Feela, Caitlin Kemler, Katherine Leiner and Kate Niles
- Achieving Publishing Success in the Four Corners: A Local Writers' Panel addressing the benefits and challenges working writers face living in Southwestern Colorado, featuring Katherine Leiner, Ken Wright and Blake Crouch
- The Ends of the Earth: An Evening with Craig Childs
- Back to the Loincloth: Hunting and Gathering Sustenance Through the Art of Story: a day-long writing workshop with award-winning western writers Craig Childs and Amy Irvine ($75, maximum 20 people, register by emailing libby@mariasbookshop.com)
- He Said/She Said Story Swap and Book Signing with Craig Childs and Amy Irvine at Maria's Bookshop
